Stewards
The
Youth Stewards is a leadership and youth development program that focuses on
environmental conservation and natural
area management in Staten Island’s Greenbelt. Youth Stewards will have the
opportunity to participate in a variety of projects including forest
restoration, vegetative assessment, mapping, and trail maintenance.
Candidates
should have an interest in the natural sciences and environmental stewardship.
Candidates must be college-bound or college-enrolled in a relevant field
of study (i.e. ecology, environmental science, natural resources management,
forestry, biology). The program will operate
for approximately 8 weeks from June through August/2008. Candidates must
be willing and able to perform strenuous physical labor in diverse environmental
conditions (heat, rain, mosquitoes, etc.).

hour work week for the duration of 8 weeks
