Flying Fun
Birds, bats, butterflies, oh my! The Greenbelt is
constantly a-flutter with creatures that fly. Explore the
Nature
Center
trail in search of sights [and sounds!] of our flying friends, learn what
makes things fly, and make a unique craft to take home.

Rugged Reptiles
The
Greenbelt
is slithering and crawling with reptiles. Explore the
Nature
Center
trail and learn about creatures with scales and shells that live here.
Meet our resident reptiles, Cornelius Vanderbilt the corn snake and Chong
the box turtle. Go on a scavenger hunt in search of snakes, and create a
beaded snake to take home.

Furry Fuzzy Friends
Chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, and other magnificent mammals scurry
through the
Greenbelt
. Hear exciting stories about mammals, look for signs of mammals on the
Nature
Center
trail, play the opossum game, and make a mammal mask to take home.

Woodland Wonderland
Calling all wizards, princesses, fairies, and
gnomes! The forest is an enchanted place, filled with magical creatures
and wondrous plants. Explore the wonders of the
Nature
Center
trail, look for signs of gnomes, hear legends of enchanted forest
creatures, and create your very own magic wand that you can use to cast
spells on others to help protect the park and the planet!

A Present From the Past
Party in the
Greenbelt
like it’s 1399, when much of Staten Island looked the way the
Greenbelt
does today. Walk the
Nature
Center
trail in search of plants used by the Lenape
Indians who called
Staten Island
home, sing and dance to Native songs, and weave your own turtle keychain
to take home.
Show
the world you care about environmental education for children.
