Join the Greenbelt environmental educators and the National Park Service staff members to learn about monitoring the horseshoe crab population along Staten Island shores.

We are looking for interested volunteers to assist in the monitoring of populations. During the sessions,  we will demonstrate how to record data and tag horseshoe crabs for the upcoming project.  The study runs from early May through July 1, and is part of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and Cornell University Cooperative Extension’s Marine Program.   Go here to read more about the project.   Registration is required, call 718 351-3450 or email: naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org

Two separate sessions will take place outside of the Greenbelt as follows:

Session One: 10 am - 12 noon: Fort Wadsworth, Visitor Center- Building 120 210 New York Ave, Staten Island, NY  10305

Session Two: 2 - 4 pm: Conference House Visitor Center, 298 Saterlee Avenue, Staten Island, NY  10307
